The internet is a powerful tool that can deliver so much good value. I have grown up with computer technology having worked in the industry for over 30 years now. I find it as fascinating as I do fearsome. I can not be without the use of technology yet there are times I feel I am a slave to it. For me the power lies with the fact that I can find balance between the all that it can offer and old fashioned communication skills. A the end of the day it is real people communicating with one another based on personal relationships that will make the final difference. I have created this site for a few reasons with my primary desire to share the information with family and friends and secondarily as a means to learn the content management system Joomla. For a number years I have been involved in family history research. I would not say I am a skilled genealogist however I have gained considerable insight into the processes involved with collecting even base genealogy data on my family history and collating such data in a computer system. This site serves as a means (and it is but only one means of so doing) for providing focus to those interested in my family background. To further support the information maintained within the genealogy software I use I have other information that I wish to share with those with whom I am in contact about myself, my work, my family and some of my interests. This site may not be the prettiest looking and structurally it will improve as I learn more about Joomla. I intend to use this site to show how different Joomla modules work and how certain functionality can be delivered with the different modules - thus the reason for certain inconsistencies in approach (eg Photo galleries). As time goes by I will set up a section to list the different modules I have installed with my comments on how I found them. You are invited to share your comments with me about my genealogy work and my application of Joomla but in order to do so you will have to register as a user.
